16 March 2020 Team EDISTO Update:
Teachers will be working Tuesday and Wednesday to prepare lessons and assignments. We plan to begin by Wednesday, March 18, 2020. Your student should receive assignments and communication by Wednesday from their teacher. During this time, your students teacher is your best contact.
The district is working to place WiFi buses in the community as needed. As a last resort, students or parents can pick up paper pencil assignments from school or request that they be delivered with meals. This will be done through your child’s teacher.
We will continue to provide 2 meals a day for all students. Meals will be served in a "grab and go" style at every school location on Tuesday but that is subject to change based on need.
In addition, bus drivers will be delivering lunch and the next days breakfast along bus routes throughout the district. Buses will be at the bus stops at approximately 4 hours later than their normal pick up time.
For example, if your student normal gets pick up at 7:15, then expect meal drop off around 11:15am.
Medicine pickup as needed will be Tuesday from 7:30-1pm or Wednesday from 3-4pm.
As always will have additional information available on our district website as if becomes available.
Working together, we can get through this unprecedented situation. Thank you for your patience and support.
Sunday -- Good day OCSD students, staff, and community. This is Darrell Johnson, Interim Superintendent.
Governor Henry McMaster ordered all South Carolina schools to close for the remainder of the month. All district programs, athletic practices, adult education classes, school or district-related meetings are cancelled.
Even though schools are closed, teaching and learning will continue in our district. However, it will take a few days to get our staff and students ready for distance learning. We plan to begin by Wednesday, March 18, 2020.
Beginning tomorrow, Monday, we will provide 2 meals a day for all students. Meals will be served in a "grab and go" style at every school location. Students will pick up meals and carry it home with them. Please note that students 18 years old and younger may pick up a lunch from any school location.
Breakfast will be served from 7:30 - 9:00 am and lunch from 11:00-1:00 pm at each school site. In addition, bus drivers will begin delivering meals along bus routes throughout the district at 10:30 am and will make regular stops enabling students to pick up bagged lunches from the bus.
We will have additional information available on our district website. Working together, we can get through this unprecedented situation. Thank you for your patience and support. Remember, We Are One!
